The Colombia Organic Sierra Nevada is produced by 78 family growers. The Cooperative of Sierra and Santa Marta Coffee Growers and Farmers, have united coffee-growing families from 19 different villages to improve social welfare, economic growth, quality of coffee, and eco-tourism. The Colombia Organic Sierra Nevada provides a nice balance between acidity and body while delivering an overall smooth profile with a slightly nutty finish.
Since 2007, the CooAgroNevada farm has focused on implementing a number of sustainable systems including mechanical drying silos, solar drying beds, and water treatment plants for cleaning and recycling organic waster water from the washing and fermentation process. This is important because nearly 1.2 million people rely on the freshwater supplied by the rivers of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta range.
With an abundance of rich topsoil, annual rainfall of 160 inches/year, and year-round temperatures of 64 - 84 degrees F, the region is well-suited for the production of high-grade arabica coffee.
